The Kincks assembled a team they felt would be the next BIG three of the NBA, but just like there was trouble reaching a consensus on their nickname, there was trouble reaching a consensus on who would get the touches and who would take the big shot. The Knicks struggled mightily, and the scapegoat was lack of production in their back-court (guards). They tried out Toney Douglas, veteran Mike Bibby, rookie Iman Shumpert, but nothing seemed to work. They seemed destined to be in turmoil and shambles until the return of the injured veteran and former all-star Baron Davis, until one day, when Melo (Carmelo Anthony) and Amare (Amare Stoudimire) they decided to put in Jeremy Lin, a Harvard graduate, who had gone undrafted and cut by two teams before being claimed by the Knicks. This resulted in a monster performance, which has spurred the Knicks back to life, moving them back into the 8th spot in the easy. This man:

A man who was once cut by two teams has stepped up and shined in the big apple. Now there are still a few questions remaining. Can he keep up his remarkable PER (player efficiency ranking) that ranks at the top of the league? How will Amare and Carmelo be integrated back into this winning system? And most important, how did he become a star overnight? I think it's the raw intelligence and deliberate practice he has endured through his maturing process, but that's my opinion. I want to hear other people's opinions! Go Knicks, and keep the LINsanity pumping. Jeremy Lin is for real and here to stay.
I have been following the Jeremy Lin story ever since his first breakout game from the bench (how could I not, since it was all over ESPN?). What makes me root for Jeremy Lin is that he is such an underdog. He went undrafted and as you said, was cut by two different teams. I think his PER will decrease once Amare and Carmelo are integrated into the system, but I still think he will play an integral role to the team. The Knicks were missing a good point guard, and Lin brings that to the table.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, but maybe he can keep his PER up as displayed last night. Watching him is so emphatic because it seems as though each night be brings something new to the table. He integrated Amare (21 points) back into the system perfectly, he was a machine producing a double double with 27 points, 11 assists, and the exclamation with his dagger to bury the Raptors with 0.5 seconds remaining in regulation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkkgsvfDgfM. Last night he proved he could be an X factor and make the big shot when needed. Lin is arguably the best thing that has happened in NY in the last few years, and as you said Tom has provided the Knicks what they thought would be the value of signing Baron Davis. Lin surprises everybody. And everybody wishes they had notices his potential earlier. Spike Lee thanked the Warriors, the Rockets GM came out and wished he hadn't cut Jeremy to the media. Everybody seems to like him very much, and I'm very glad he has found success in a HUGE way, and I hope that he keeps this up for years to come in a New York Knicks jersey. THE KID IS A STAND OUT! GO LIN!
